ODES X MORPHEE

PRECIOUS
UNCOMPARIBLE DIAMONDS

THE ARTISTS

OlivierDeSchrijver_edited.jpg

Olivier de Schrijver

Belgian furniture designer present since the 80s. He draws inspiration from his travels and his birthplace, the Congo, to create. He positions himself in "post-modern" art, which he describes as more "neo-vintage", with his works made of a mixture of recycled materials and rare materials which always tell a story sprinkled with a touch of humor.

Pamela Hastry

Belgian jewelry artist and founder of Morphée Joaillerie in 2013. Today, after numerous training courses around the world, she is a designer and gemologist but above all an avant-garde creator who advances the world of jewelry with her jewelry. unexpected like modular rings, transformable brooches or even earrings with multiple ranges.

THE MEETING OF TWO WORLDS

In August 2022, Olivier de Schrijver was the first furniture designer to be exhibited at the Knokke Art Fair, in the heart of the Magritte room. His "Diamond" collection was able to attract attention, in particular that of designer Pamela Hastry, passionate about furniture. She who, before devoting her career to jewellery, had as her first training the making of furniture and objects.

It was in the reflection of the designer's mirror that the meeting between the two artists took place.

The blue and silver hues of the work seemed strangely personal to him, similar to that of Morpheus, his jewelry house. It was also its structure mimicking the faceting of a diamond that intrigued him.

Olivier de Schrijver's inspiration for this mirror is not incidental either, since it is the "Heart of the Ocean", the famous diamond thrown overboard from the Titanic. And it is this same resemblance that will remind the jeweler's husband of a promotion she had given him;

"I always told her that I would agree to marry her the day I had a 5-carat blue diamond on my finger."

He will then surpass this utopian wish thanks to Olivier de Schrijver by offering his wife this mirror, this "blue diamond" which had so magnetized her.

This mirror was the keystone of an artistic exchange between the two creators. A real crush, it is in the symbiosis of two worlds that a precious idea was born: the PRECIOUS collaboration.

THE COLLABORATION

For this collection, Olivier De Schrijver uses glass as a raw material, a material outside the conventions of nobility.

It is the work and research of the designer provided on this material that will make this work a real precious piece.

This capsule collection, based on Olivier De Schrijver's "Diamant" collection, will be enhanced by Pamela Hastry with precious technical work. She will “set” her diamonds by applying gold leaf and gold leaf.

For the first time, Olivier de Schrijver, designer represented exclusively in auction rooms, will offer this capsule collection for sale in a boutique to order, at a fixed price.

In pure respect for the tradition of sculpted works of art, eight gold leaf prints will be made of each piece only and also four artist proofs with 24 carat gold leaf.

Different colors will be available: Black Diamond, Blue Diamond, Green Diamond and Red Diamond.

It was during many discussions between the artists that an additional idea appeared...

A role reversal took place to add a final touch to this project. So far, this collaboration has been based on the work of Olivier de Schrijver with the art of Pamela Hastry.

So, to finalize this collaboration as it should, a ring completely designed by Pamela Hastry and taking up the codes of Olivier de Schrijver's universe will be created.

First made, tailor-made for Olivier de Schrijver as a wedding ring, the jewel will finally be marketed to end this first capsule collection.

This gold ring composed of multiple facets alone represents the collaboration between the two artists and the craftsmanship of its two creators.
